The aim of this monograph is to evaluate selected aspects of the aging population which may affect the living conditions of seniors in future. In this sense, attention was focused on finding answers to three questions:
- to what extent allow pensions to secure the needs of seniors,
- whether social care services are available in all administrative districts of municipalities with extended competence,
- whether the Czech Republic is prepared for the consequences of an aging population in the area of social services.
Besides finding answers to these questions were within a field survey collected empirical data on the living conditions of people over 55 years old, living in towns (municipalities) to 5,000 people. Based on this data it would be possible to design in the future recommendations for improving the conditions for ensuring independent life of the elderly and the pre-retirement age.
