Description:

The project provides detailed information on the regulation of the concurrent payment of the retirement pension and income from gainful employment in South-East Asian and Latin American countries in comparison with countries covered by the MISSOC database. It was determined that with respect to those countries in which the basic pension is provided according to the defined contribution scheme, concurrent paid employment and the receipt of the retirement benefit is allowed even during a period of early retirement. However, in certain countries in which the pension benefit is provided according to defined benefit schemes, the payment of the pension in the event of concurrent employment is subject to various conditions relating principally to the amount of the income earned and age limits. Generally speaking, the stricter conditions imposed in countries with defined benefit pension schemes apply particularly to the receipt of the early retirement pension. In some countries special legal rules are defined with respect to combining paid employment and the receipt of the retirement pension for public sector employees.
