The preliminary analysis aimed at identifying systemic barriers to and conditions for the employment of persons during or following a term of imprisonment was a part of the project which was funded by the Association of Independent Trade Unions of the Czech Republic

The goal of the RILSA was to describe the main obstacles and conditions influencing the potential for the employment of persons following a period of imprisonment. The project focused primarily on the readiness of jobseekers in the target group and their willingness (as well as readiness) of employers to employ such persons. The project involved the conducting of two separate investigations, the first of which focused on the evaluation of findings resulting from the direct interaction of job seekers and employers at test job interviews. The second investigation involved employers, and focused particularly on mapping their starting positions in terms of the potential for their employing persons who had completed a term of imprisonment. Attention was devoted to both the recruitment of new employees itself and the monitoring of certain employer characteristics in this respect. The information gathered from the research was then summarised with regard to seven main areas which reflected the sequence of events, including the potential for and limits concerning the employment of such persons, from their release from a detention facility through the job interview stage to potentially commencing employment.
