There were three main objective of the project. Firstly, processing expert legal analysis focused on the extent to which the current legislation (i.e. the Act on Social Services) concerning the social workers’ and social service workers’ qualification and training requirements is able to guarantee the maintenance and the development of expertise in social work performance at the municipal offices, and in the social services. Secondly, special attention was also paid to the view of social workers´ managers, whether the mentioned legislation corresponds to the demands of the professional performance of social work in practice. Last but not least, we focused the self-estimation of these managers related to their role in the maintenance or development of the skills of social work in the municipalities and in the social services. The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs makes use of this analysis for the preparation of legislative and non-legislative proposals modifying the qualification requirements and the promotion of lifelong education of social workers.
